The origins of the triptych symbolism in art and buildings is astronomy and not “just for shape”. It has a clear reason why this is seen around the world in churches temples and paintings. Richard Cassaro (link to his website below) had a hypothesis on it in his book, Written in stone. It was him who observed it and put it out there and below variations of his picture is seen on the internet a lot. I will say in advance that I do not agree with his explanation or related claims of “a lost advanced civilization” , however there might have been cultural exchange somehow, which is currently not proven. We are talking about the phenomenon of 3 windows or 3 doors, were the middle one is usually wider and a bit higher than the two side ones. This article will tell you why.

Although he is the one who brought this phenomenon to the attention of the internet I do not agree with his Kundalini explanation in his book written in stone.
This symbolism is indeed seen everywhere and is global. One can brush it of as coincidence or architectural feature but it’s not. Most are in churches or temples and my explanation is that it’s a depiction of the sun bouncing up and down our globe during the seasons and the respective position of the sun on the horizon. It’s an astronomical clock.

Image: The image of Angkor is identical symbolism to the Notre dame, or the triumphal arches. It’s the sun moving over the seasons. The sunrise on Angkor Wat during the equinox is such that someone standing in front of the western entrance on the equinox is able to see the sun rising directly over the central lotus tower. Everyone knows the Arc de Triomphe but this Arc, the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is a perfect example of a roman Triumph arch. Again, Its fully astronomical in its nature. It has the 3 doors, explained before. The 4 pillars represent the 4 seasons. The solar hero on top with its quadriga with his 4 horses. (The 4 horses, always a reference to the 4 seasons, even the 4 horses of the apocalypse.)
Lastly the two Dioscuri or Hero twins represent the two opposites of the Zodiac, Orion and Ophiuchus. They also appear in the zodiac as the constellation Gemini, separately. Not only in western mythology, but just as much in the Maya mythology of the Hero twins, or, in the Indian story about the Ashvini. But that’s better explained in the Codex Dei blog article.
